Achievements

Many would be surprised to know just how important and successful the Bolwarra P&C is in regards to helping harness the huge amounts of goodwill and support that parents and carers have for their children’s education and subsequently their school.

Over the past 5 years the Bolwarra P&C committee (including the canteen) has coordinated fundraising efforts which have raised in excess of $170,000.

These funds have been donated back to the school and have been used in the following ways:

  • Purchase and installation of 2 adventure playgrounds for students in years K-2 & years 3-6, in 2013.
  • Significant donations towards purchasing 12 smart boards, (over 4 years) so now every classroom has access to this technology. 2012 saw the P&C donate enough funds to help purchase 6 smart boards in one year. Each smart board costs almost $10,000.
  • Cabling for smart boards so every classroom has access to the internet
  • Installation of the much loved miniature car track in the playground
  • Repainting of the concrete art and playground games in the central play area
  • Purchase of a new BBQ for the school
  • Yearly donations of $3,000 towards new books for the school library
  • Purchase of essential equipment in the canteen such as ovens, fridges, freezers, air-conditioner and other items.
  • Purchase of school Blazers for School Captains and Vice Captains to wear to formal occasions, such as Anzac Day ceremonies.

While the P&C may primarily be seen as being a fundraising body, they are also actively involved in increasing the feeling of community and encouraging and supporting the creation of ‘school spirit’ among parents and caregivers. Examples of activities that promote this community feeling include:

  • The coordination of the Kindy Parents Welcome Morning Tea on 1st day of school.
  • The coordination of the Welcome BBQ for new and current families in Term 1.
  • The Gingerbread House making event just prior to Christmas 2012
  • The implementation of the New Parents Buddy Program (2013)
